8 Video Games That Punished You For Going Too Fast!

1. Spyro Speed Punishment - Spyro The Dragon

Sonic Cannot Go Fast
Activision

As with a lot of older video games, that were fortunate enough to exist in an age before DLC and microtransactions partitioned and paywalled all the fun features, Spyro The Dragon had a bucket load of cheats that the player could use to manipulate the adorable in-game world.

From buffing you with a tonne of lives, allowing you to access all the homeworlds instantly, and even letting you play a demo of Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped, it was a cheaters' goldmine through and through. However, there's one cheat that you should never, EVER use and that's the "Increase Speed" cheat.

You might be thinking it would be useful to give the little dragon a bit of extra zip, especially if you were trying to get to a section to practice for a speedrun of a different variety, but the developers here were clearly having a laugh as this, well, this is ridiculous!

This cheat ups Spyros speed so much that the only way to maintain any semblance of control over him was to actively CHARGE around the map! Charging... was slower... than simply moving. We're sorry, we'll never cheat again!
