Dark Souls may have a reputation for being punishing but fair (and relentlessly unforgiving), but there's a case to be made that Demon's Souls takes this to even more of an extreme. Yet amidst all of this difficulty and obtuseness players are actually rewarded for trying to break the game's progression system.

Throughout the game there are multiple unintended shortcuts, including a famous one in Shrine Of Storms that involves clipping over a wall and passing three quarters of the brutally tough level.

What makes these elements genuine rewards is their blessing by the game's director, Hidetaka Miyazaki. Miyazaki has stated in the past that if such game-altering exploits had been discovered pre-release, they probably would have been fixed.

However as of now they will never be patched out, as they've become part of the 'Demon's Souls experience', and are a reward for inquisitive players and a rigorous, passionate community.
