8 Video Games That Should Have Been Movies
3. Death Stranding
Ok so hear me out on this one. I actually quite like Death Stranding for what it is, and for what Hideo Kojima tried to say with this game. It's just....maybe he could have said those things a little bit more concisely?
I mean come on did we really need a two-hour cutscene at the end of the game? That's literally a movie in itself! And the repetitive missions in the third act really did feel like things were being phoned in somewhat.
So what about we take this massive whale, cut out all of the blubber, and fashion a two, maybe a three-hour movie (but that's it Hideo afterward we're cutting you off) and use all of the wonderful characters and the rich world that's been created to tell a more focused tale.
All the pieces are there as well, a man looking to literally rebuild humanity, an ever-present threat of explosive death, and giant BT's that could make for entrancing setpieces.
Chuck in your baby buddy cop pal and you've got a story with heart, danger, and meaning that wouldn't overstay its welcome by about ten hours.
