3. The Game That Never Ends - Harvest Moon Franchise
One of the glorious things about the Harvest Moon franchise is that it's a series that encapsulates the long hazy days of summer to a tee. Sure you're working hard in the fields tending to your crops and sorting out your livestock, but it's got that tone of the carefree, and becomes a game that many players choose to unwind with thanks to its laidback approach to gameplay.
It's also a series that seemingly traps you forever in a gameplay cycle you can never ever leave.
You see, outside of the first instalment, pretty much none of the titles that follow have a definitive ending, letting the player carry on their farming duties potentially forever, and while it might be easy to respond with "well that means I can quit any time", the pull of these games is that they force an emotional connection between you, the villagers and of course your farm. After all, you built this place from the ground up or restored it to it's former glory, and now you have so many people and animals depending on you!
Aaaaah emotional guilt tripping, Harvest Moon clearly is a big fan of this.
