8 Ways Titanfall 2 Blows Battlefield 1 Out The Water

2. It's Not Just 'More Of The Same'

Yes, Battlefield "took the series to World War I" for the first time, but be honest with yourself, in terms of actual game mechanics, those complaints about it being "just a re-skinned Battlefront" have some merit.

Whilst BF1 isn't as dumbed down as the "Just hold right trigger to win"-likes of Battlefront, there's nothing as mechanically in-depth as using a grappling hook to gain a height advantage, boost-sliding to cover ground to set up surprise around-the-corner ambushes or clambering on mechs to bring them down single-handedly.

Again, yes, these things would be impossible in Battlefield's timeframe, but that's not the point. Once you get past the WWI trimmings of EA's new shooter, there's very little to the gameplay itself, and that's where - in the long term - it can't help but fall down.
