9 Awesome Hidden Modes In Popular Video Games You Totally Missed

5. Flying - Grand Theft Auto III

Depending on how much you played GTA III, or were immersed in all manner of playground conversations surrounding what you could or couldn't do in a pre-internet age, the fact you could actually fly the Dodo might have remained a mystery.

It's highly doubtful Rockstar intended us to glitch this thing up into the air for any substantial amount of time, but head over to the airport on the south side of Shoreside Vale, and locate the tiny, almost wingless plane. Once inside, accelerate as normal, but hold forward on for a good few seconds until you hear a scraping sound, and see sparks coming from the front of the plane.

Now let go of everything except accelerate and the Dodo will - quite unintentionally - 'jump' off the ground. If anything it's meant to be nothing more than a joke at the useless vehicle's potential, but replicate the process and feather the Y axis with up and down during that initial takeoff phase, and you can fly the Dodo across all of Liberty City.

Future GTAs would go on to include flying as standard, aping the physics and overall feel of what controlling the Dodo controlled like, way back in 2001. There you go, a whole new way to explore GTA III!
