9. Isaac Briggs (Splinter Cell: Blacklist)
Standard series protagonist Sam Fisher received something of a makeover in this year's instalment of Splinter Cell, by way of a new voice-actor and a complete personality overhaul. Less a one-man-war-machine as before, and more of a team-player by games end, enter Isaac Briggs to be his fellow Cell-operative and confidant on the ground. Accompanying Sam on many missions, his sections are only playable in a bizarre first-person mode, although he does have two incredibly memorable scenes that take place during the rest of the game. Without delving into plot spoilers in relation to his actions with Sam and main antagonist Majid Sadiq, there is one fantastic play on expectations during a bomb-defusal scene. Whilst we're all convinced Isaac is about to bite the big one as he looks down upon the standard collection of red, yellow and blue wires, tension mounts and time ticks away only for him to nonchalantly clip the correct wire and stroll off as if there was nothing at stake.
