9 Best Star Trek Video Games
From the Captain's chair to... playing as a Klingon?!
Star Trek games tend to get a bit of a bad rap; something that doesn't help when your latest release is an astonishingly bad movie tie-in that tried to turn the 'Star Trek experience' into a third-person shooter with elements of the mythology thrown in as an afterthought. The controls were clunky, the scripting was utterly dreadful, and the only person more bored than the players were the voice actors.
Couple that with a few abortive iOS and free-to-play projects, and lump in the fact that Star Trek Online creaks around the edges and offers a welcome as jarring as a box of live grenades, and you've got one hell of an ongoing franchise problem. Given that Star Trek is going through a renaissance on the big screen, and is rumoured to be coming back home to TV, it's a crying shame there's very little presence in the one place it could really flourish: video games.
Fear not though; for all of you gripping the arms of your desk chair whilst pretending to be the Captain himself - only to be rattled by a rogue Klingon torpedo - the following is a list of the 10 best Star Trek video games you can actually enjoy... provided you can get them to work on a new operating system.
