7. Camping
Before I even elaborate on this point, I have to admit that there are certain instances when, lets call it calculated patrolling of a small predetermined area of the map is warranted. When sniping, for example, a player should establish a firing position, keeping with it until theyve taken a shot or until such time as the spawns flip and puts the enemy between player and team. Similarly, if a player is the last one alive during a game of search and destroy, it's not necessarily advisable to run around emptying magazines into anything that moves. The problem occurs with straight up camping in standard game modes. By this I mean those people who play team deathmatch and do nothing but sit in one corner frantically checking their UAV for any signs of activity before plugging some poor unfortunate soul in the back as they run past. Worse still are those who do it when sitting in the enemy spawn how would anybody derive enjoyment from that type of play style? It has often been cited as a valid argument that camping is a legitimate game play strategy. After all, if you were in a real combat situation, you wouldnt go out firing off magazines all over the place, right? The problem with this logic is that its fundamentally flawed. Call of Duty is not real life. Its not even remotely similar to real life. As such, its perfectly acceptable to sprint from cover to cover and traverse the map, picking up kills as you move with your team. I know that Treyarch have taken measures to stop this type of play style from being quite so prevalent, most notably with the alterations made to the Ghost perk. Even so, its still annoying and it still needs to be further discouraged with the next game.
