5. Virtua Fighter, Outrun, Puyo Puyo & TONS More (Inside Yakuza)

It took a long time for the Yakuza series to fully be embraced in the West, but I for one, am so thankful we're here. Alongside barmy plots and fun arcady brawling is a franchise proud of its Japanese heritage, seeing Ryu Ga Gotoku studio pack the in-game versions of Club Sega with scores of Sega hits.

Kicking off from Yakuza 5's release onwards, we've had full versions of Virtua Fighter 2 and 5, Puyo Puyo, Space Harrier, Outrun, Super Hang On, Virtual-On and more.

Spin-off Judgment continued this by adding things like Fighting Vipers, and with Yakuza also being a spiritual followup to Shenmue, it's worth pointing out Yu Suzuki's subversive 90s masterpieces included things like Outrun and Space Harrier too, but its sequel let you play the mighty After Burner II.

Maybe none of this means anything to people who didn't grow up in the arcades, but it's great to see Sega recognising their own legacy and making it playable in what is now one of their most popular IPs.
