2. Game Of Thrones' Season 1 Ending
(Spoiler warning) The Game of Thrones Telltale series is far from the greatest offering in the prolific developer's repertoire, but like the series it knows how to make a visceral impact. Right from the first episode of this Telltale series, in which you try to guide members of the beleaguered House Forrester through the political minefield of Westeros, it's clear that you're in for a rough ride filled with death and deceit. Throughout the series, you get dragged through the dirt with the Forresters, going through death after death with seemingly no hope of redemption. But even the relentless TV series offers moments of respite, so you hope that by the end of this emotional and physical abattoir of a game you'll get rewarded for your grim journey. But there is no reward, and no decision you make in this game, which claims that you do have some power in shaping the outcome of events, will really make a difference. The Forresters continue to get slaughtered and humiliated, no matter what you do, which leaves you feeling not only empty and frustrated, but kind of conned that you've been dragged along for a ride in which you're supposed to be a key player, but are just an observer to a mostly hopeless chain of events. It's a shoddy ending to a series that fails to play by either Telltale's or Game of Thrones', failing to give you enough control or be enough of a manipulator to change the fate of the characters you become invested in. By the end you'll feel defeated, frustrated and helpless, and not in the way you signed up for.
