9 Major Talking Points That Will Define Fallout 4

1. The New Perk System

Some people just don't like change, and there's no more immediate way to get fans battling each other head-on, than change one of the fundamental design elements of the game that they previously held dear. Now, rather than have you allocate your points to specific tiers and then choose from a large list of individual ability-defining perks (it was always a little confusing anyway to be honest), you get the full list of perks available to scroll through, and they're gated individually behind the umbrella topic at the top. So for example, putting points into Strength will unlock all the cascading perks below it, and the same for, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility and Luck. It works fine enough, if not a little overwhelming seeing so many Vault-Boy animations all popping off left, right and centre - and it can be quite hard to feel the ramifications of what you're spending points on - but ultimately it's a fine step up. Lastly there are collectible Bobble-heads out there in the world that come with specific buffs you can't unlock - providing a great incentive to explore the world itself, but again detractors point to the fact these unlocks should be part of the natural progression. Sometimes, you just can't win. Let us know in the comments what you think, and create an account if you'd like to write for the Gaming section!
