9 Most Disgusting Things Video Games Forced You To Do

1. Accidentally Deploying White Phosphorous On Innocent People - Spec-Ops: The Line

Switching gears considerably, Spec-Ops' lead writer Walt Williams knew exactly how to get a reaction out of the player, and come the mid-point in The Line as you're trying to figure out a way to take out an entire forecourt of enemies, your teammates eye a mortar that'll deploy the skin-scorching white phosphorus from above. Reservations are mentioned from your fellow soldiers as to just how inhumane this stuff is anyway, but then you hop into the viewfinder and start using the thermal indicator to find where the enemy patrols are regardless.

You kill off a few, before finding a larger group of icons together, to which your inbuilt "Ooh, I can kill a few of them at once!" trigger kicks in, and you wipe the whole area out. Except they weren't enemy soldiers, they were hostages, huddling together to stay out of the line of fire. The game plays on the effect of this massively for its final reveal and the descent into madness your main character Martin Walker slowly falls into - but it's this reversal of expectation that uses a standard way we all play shooting games and flips it on its head so severely, that'll stick with you forever.

What's your most disgusting moment you were forced to play through for the sake of completion? Let us know in the comments!
