9 Overused Video Game Criticisms That Make No Sense
4. "It's Too Short"
There are countless AAA games released every year that will steal your life away if you let them, so to complain that other games - typically single-player narrative-driven ones - are too short does feel a bit like missing the point.
Sure, nobody's going to be happy about a 6-hour AAA experience with no multiplayer that costs £45, but the indie and mid-budget gaming boom over the last decade has seen publishers opt for a far wider array of price points better-suited to a game's given length.
Not every game wants or needs to be an intense 40-hour experience. A balanced "diet" of games is necessary to prevent even the most enthusiastic player from feeling burned out, and playing a couple of games you can complete in an afternoon between the big AAA hitters is an easy way to avoid that.
After all, isn't it better for a game to leave you wanting more than leaving you exhausted and frustrated by the time the end credits roll?
