9 PC Games That Will Make You Nostalgic For The 90s

5. Blood

Doom continues to enjoy life thanks to a vibrant modding community, and as such remains a big part of today's gaming zeitgeist - particularly with the fourth instalment round the corner. So let's give a bit of love for a game that didn't roll with the times quite as well, but epitomises the 90s shooter. Blood was one of the later games made using the gritty old Build Engine (same as Duke Nukem 3D). The game sees you control some dude on some revenge quest (irrelevant), shooting your way through zombies, machine-gunning monks and other demonic entities. It's the fine little details that make Blood memorable - the murky environments, the tortured sprite-people hanging all over the place, the blood pouring down walls after you've shot some creature. It had a great sense of absurdity too, with weapons including skulls on sticks, voodoo dolls, and even beating monster hearts.
