9 Reasons Why Shadow Of The Colossus Is A Video Game Masterpiece
2. It's Absolutely Stunning
While the game doesn’t boast next-gen graphics and the age is noticeable in places, Shadow of the Colossus is still visually stunning. Riding out along the vast open expanses of the game can be breathtaking with eagles flying alongside you creating a genuinely rousing moment. The level of detail encompassed in the game can be deceptive as monuments and cracked ruins boast an impressive degree of complexity.
Exploring the game and the vast worlds can provide some of the most splendid and awe-inspiring views in gaming. Riding out through the desert as the brightness slowly adjusts, the swirling sandstorm and striking mountains in the background was genuinely breath-taking. No matter which way you turn, you can achieve a screenshot that is more visually stunning than a lot of other video games.
The initial and surface level detail and depth is somewhat sparse, with the game seeming somewhat flat, but even then, the game is stunning, proving that detail doesn’t always have to be the key to standout visuals. Despite the game having those layers of detail upon further inspection, its overall design aesthetic is simply beautiful.
