9 Secret Video Game Bosses You Need To Beat Before You Die

Dark Souls wouldn't be doing its job if it didn't make the top spot of this list. While the action-RPG series has featured some of the most ridiculous bosses, optional or not, in all of gaming, it saved its most difficult one to cap off the climactic third and final title.

Hidden in the already tough-to-find Archdragon Peak, it's difficult enough getting to The Nameless King in the first place, but that challenge pales in comparison to actually taking the two-stage boss down.

Entering the battle riding his fire-breathing dragon, the first half of the fight consists of trying to doge the all-encompassing double whammy of the King's lightning strikes and the dragon's seemingly inescapable swipes.

That first half is already one of the toughest fights in the game, but when you've beaten the dragon, the rider will jump off and face you mano-a-mano. While he gets a new health bar, you don't, meaning that if you've got to this point with only one estus flask left, you might as well fall on your own sword, if not only to stop him slaughtering you that one more time.
