9 Things Halo 5 Must Learn From Destiny

1. The Shooting: If It Ain't Broke...

Let's once again hop off the derision bandwagon and give Destiny the credit it is due: when it comes to shooting, it doesn't get much better. Hand cannons kick like a horse with every pull of the trigger, but through palpable and necessary feedback you know the impact on the receiving end is harsh enough to justify their temperament. Scout and sniper rifles are picky things but reward a skilled, steady hand - and are drop-dead lethal from a few dozen to a few hundred yards. Shotguns come down like guillotines in close-quarters, and auto rifles will effortlessly turn to ribbons any target unfortunate enough to be caught out in the open. Destiny's weapons have more personality than the game's entire cast put together, and it shows. Even simple grunt hunting is a symphony of battle - the familiar thud of headshots, the clang of freshly loaded magazines, each refrain punctuated by the echo of your grenade of choice. Destiny is first-person shooting at its purest, and it has Halo written all over it. Halo 5 need only keep that up. Are there things about Destiny you want carried over, or taken out altogether for Halo 5? Let us know in the comments!

A freelance games writer, you say? Typically battling his current RPG addiction and ceaseless perfectionism? A fan of horror but too big a sissy to play for more than a couple of hours? Spends far too much time on JRPGs and gets way too angry with card games? Well that doesn't sound anything like me.
