9 Things To Do To Start Your Island Adventure In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
2. Complete The Critterpedia
Just like another of Nintendo's biggest franchises, Animal Crossing features its own encyclopedia of creatures that needs to be filled. One of the best ways of earning money in the game is to collect and sell the bugs and fish that are living on the islands that you encounter, but filling the critterpedia app on your phone has its own rewards. The more entries you complete, the more Nook miles you earn and when you complete the critterpedia itself you can unlock golden equipment for your character.
Certain bugs can even sell for up to 8000 Bells a piece and one of the fastest ways of amassing a fortune early in the game is to try and catch as many of these as possible. There are also specific islands that you can travel to that are a predominant habitat for them, such as the Tarantula Island that features nothing but the titular arachnids. There are certain tricks to catching the rarer and more expensive critters though, as scorpions and tarantulas can actually attack the player if they're not careful. Approaching them slowly from behind or digging holes in patterns can prevent them from reaching you but allow you to catch them in safety.
