9 (Unconventional) First-Person Video Games You Must Play
6. The Forest
What happens when your plane crashes on an island and the last thing you see in the fiery aftermath is a naked tribesman with your son in his arms, vanishing into the night? Endnight Games' The Forest very specifically answers this question. Obviously, you'll want to find your kid, but your primary goal becomes very simple early on: stay alive. You must chop down trees, build shelters, gather food and water and strategically defend yourself from the wild cannibals who have kidnapped your kin... so they won't club you to the ground and eat your actual flesh and blood while you sleep. They will dynamically stalk you, too, so don't expect to ever let your guard down. It's their unpredictability that makes The Forest's survival-horror formula so enthralling. Watch the movie Castaway, look up some Let's Plays on Miasmata, then watch a trailer for The Descent and you'll be in a ripe mood for what The Forest has in store. A pre-alpha build of the game has been available on Steam Early Access since May 30th, and reviews have been highly positive, so we're hopeful yet that a console release isn't completely out of the question.
Real Science Magazine called James' addiction to video games "sexually attractive." He also worked really hard and got really lucky in college and earned some awards for acting, improv and stand-up, but nobody cares about that out here in LA. So... He's starting over fresh, performing when He can. His profile picture features James as Serbian, vampire comic Dorde Mehailo with His anonymous Brother and Uncle at the Nerdmelt Showroom in West Hollywood. In James' spare time, he engages in acting, writing, athletics, hydration, hours of great pondering and generally wishing you'd like him.
