9 Video Game Characters That Vanished Without A Trace

7. Niko Bellic (And Most GTA Protagonists) - Grand Theft Auto

Technically Niko is referenced very casually in GTA V but exactly what happened to him or where he’s at is hard to say.

Lester Crest mentions to Michael De Santa that there was an Eastern European guy with an annoying cousin in Liberty City but says that he went quiet. Later on, if you choose Packie for a heist, he’ll tell you about working with Niko but says he doesn’t know what happened to him and says that he thinks he is, quote, “probably dead.”

It seems like nobody has a clue, unless you take a certain easter egg as canon. We never get to actually see Niko, but hey, we’ll take the crumb.

If Michael survives the game’s events, you’ll get access to a scene where his son Jimmy has his laptop out and is viewing a Lifeinvader page. That page belongs to Niko Bellic, now a taxi driver living in Broker, still in contact with Mallorie, Little Jacob and Brucie Kibbutz as they liked his most recent status wishing happy birthday to Roman.

Okay, so not ‘without a trace’ then, but still a bit of a question mark.
