9 Video Game Franchises RETURNING On PS5, Xbox Series XS & Switch
Bioshock, GTA, Metroid Prime - there's a LOT to look forward to.
Is it just me, or does it feel like the gaming industry is totally in a holding pattern right now?
We've had the big new systems, a nice smattering of launch titles (some of which were also available on past-gen consoles), and we're all sat here thinking, "Now what?"
Obviously there's the pandemic, obviously a ton of projects got delayed into 2022 and no doubt that'll be a trend that continues across 2021, but ultimately, what is there to look forward to?
Well, as the industry loves to drop a CG teaser or random smattering of images accompanied by a logo, we do know a ton of beloved franchises ARE coming back.
For this list's criteria I'm going to focus on IP that's been away for more than a generation, so no Mass Effect or Dragon Age, but everything pre-eighth generation is fair game.

Honourable Mention: Grand Theft Auto
Yup, the big LOL with my criteria is that GTA would totally qualify.
Its last instalment was on PS3 and Xbox 360, with the go-to omnipresent delights of GTA: Online being a port of a seventh generation game that people are still playing in 2021.
GTA VI will see the franchise return proper to PS5 and Xbox XS, but with another GTA V upgrade scheduled first, who even knows when that will be.
