9 Video Game Titles Which Lied To You

3. Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past

FFIV title
Nintendo

What's the name of the much admired Legend of Zelda game which sees everyone's favourite pointy-eared, green-clad pixie boy hurtling back and forth through time in his quest to prevent the world's absolute overthrow by evil pigman Ganon?

Logically, it must be A Link to the Past, right?

Wrong! (Yes, we know it's of course Ocarina of Time, stick with us here). The SNES' 1991 Hyrulian romp might be a masterpiece in just about every regard, but the name ain't one. It's not time that the hero of, er, time crosses between, but dimensions, using his magic mirror to flit between light and dark worlds. In many ways, it's a shame Nintendo wasted such a cracking pun on the one Zelda game for which it is entirely inappropriate.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
