9 Video Games Nobody Wants To Admit Have Aged Terribly

8. Dragon Age: Origins

Dragon Age: Origins was one of the best fantasy-style RPG's out there. It managed to combine Dungeons and Dragons with a hybrid turn-based combat system in a world that perfectly blended the fantasy styles of Tolkien and George R.R. Martin. Basically, it felt incredible to play.

But it's seen better days.

The obvious sticking point is how outdated the graphics feel, and whilst that might not be a massive point of contention for most people, the game does suffer for it. Cutscenes and conversations can lose their entire gravitas simply because the characters either over-emote or have the emotional range of a potato.

Combine that with several cases of shoddy voice acting coinciding with some examples of great voice acting, and the entire world-building element has been lost through time.

The tactical group-based gameplay admittedly still works, but those mechanics have come such a long way, it can only leave Origins behind. It's still good, but more refined games of today make it painful to try and manoeuvre through the older title, leaving you with that bitter outdated sensation.

I like video games, writing and writing about video games. Expect sarcasm and the dry wit of a Brit. And the occasional rant of a unhappy Scot. You know... the usual.
