After escaping the terrors of Outlast's prison-like asylum, reminding your partner that people (and animals) aren't all that bad is probably a good idea. Without the rigours of linear story or a determined narrative, Animal Crossing is the perfect mini-game experience to relax with.

Customise your human avatar to look as much (or as little) like you as you wish and head of into the quaint village in search of happy-go-lucky adventurers like yourself. Fish, catch bugs and collect all manner of items as you wander happily through one of the most sickeningly harmless setups in gaming history.

Think of an Animal Crossing session as a great alternative to taking a trip through secluded country roads and Great British woodland. Lord knows we don't live in a world like the ones in Jane Austen novels anymore, so the village in Animal Crossing is probably the closest you'll ever get to visiting a place that's genuinely just nice these days.
