Spring-boarding off the notion that mission-givers aren't so obviously flagged, IGN noted that NPCs in the world ALL have something to say. It must mean that production-wise there are potentially hundreds of thousands of lines of dialogue, but all can be interacted with, through some ace new mechanics.

I'll get more into these as we go, but Rockstar's gameplay trailer noted that at any point you can threaten people into silence, intimidate them into giving information or simply suffer the consequences of a prior night's killing spree.

The example given in the video was a woman chastising Morgan for "killing ma' cousin!", and if Rockstar can texture the world with your collective past efforts, it's certainly going to add another layer of immersion overall.
