9 Ways Red Dead Redemption 2 Has Already Revolutionised Open-World Gaming

5. Folding Minigames Into The Main Narrative

Rockstar are the absolute kings of "Here's some random minigames. Do them if you want!"

GTA V even had what were ostensibly full versions of golf and tennis - not to mention darts and hunting.

Though they're always great fun, at no point were any of these things remotely necessary. While Red Dead Redemption 2 isn't (assumedly) about to roll together playing Liar's Dice as a main game mechanic, by having relationships with NPCs and camp maintenance at the top of your to-do list, hanging out with your crew is paramount to seeing everything.

Simply by putting incentive and narrative reasoning behind the minigames, it changes the way they've ever been implemented in the past.

To me, this is what past Rockstar games have been missing for almost 20 years.
