For a character that started off life as one of Mario's many obstacles to jump over or dodge around, our adorably dangerous Chomp has come a long way, and appeared in several iterations (Mario Tennis, anyone?).

However, it's his appearance in Double Dash as a 'Special Weapon' that ranks among the best.

As a giant ball with a set of teeth that drags the player along and plows through enemies, this guy's as over the top and bonkers as weapons can get. Mainly used by baby versions of Mario and Luigi, and Kid Bowser to a degree, this guy will pull you ahead at top speed, chomping his way past your rivals (a bit like taking a 10 foot raging bull for walk) and it is so much fun. He will even get loose and go chasing after characters of his own accord after a time.

But, what adds just the right hint of zany to this mix, is that if a player gets Chomp whilst in 2nd place or higher, there's a likely chance he will break away, turn around, and come directly for you! A nifty little touch to an already crazy race-running tool.
