This is utterly essential.

You’ll get your arse kicked on the regular if you don’t start mastering the basics of reversing strikes and grapples. It really doesn’t take long for momentum bars to fill up in Fight Forever, so matches can be over in the blink of an eye if you don't counter some holds or punches in a hurry.

It's worth noting that there’s an “Easy Countering” option you can stick on. Do that, and countering everything moves to your controller's face buttons, which is probably easier for some who don't like the trigger defaults. In short, it may feel more "normal" to hit square (on PS5) to block a punch rather than one of the shoulder buttons.

Mastering the timing for reversals is critical if you don't want to get frustrated. Wrestlers are super-aggressive on harder difficulty modes, and they don't all have the exact same movements for grapples or strikes. Get some practice in!
