Ladder matches in the WWE 2K series are one and the same in 2023. You climb the ladder, you dive off the ladder, you climb the ladder again, you knock your opponent off the ladder, you win: simple.

Stodgy, boring, and dull, but simple.

In AEW Fight Forever, however, the matches have an added meaning to them as, if you have two ladders set up near each other and you time it correctly, your player will hop from one ladder to the next, although you're unable to do any delirious Nick Jackson parkour into a somersault dive - still, it's fun and neat.

If you want to spice things up, you can, as if you dive onto the side of the ladder where your opponent is standing, this will instead trigger an animation that sees you perform a special move, such as a Cody Cutter.

AEW's ladder matches are notoriously dangerous-looking, so THQ and Yuke's had to go the extra mile. They pulled it off spectacularly.
