After Assassin’s Creed 3: 10 Historical Periods Ubisoft Should Visit Next

9. The Cold War

Whenever you mention an artistic property that involves stealth and assassins or spies, it's hard not to think of James Bond - and it remains a huge shame that Ubisoft and the Assassin's Creed team haven't yet turned their hand to a James Bond game, using the same sort of gameplay mechanics as the AC games. So, it makes sense that I would suggest the politically charged era of the Cold War as a possible future setting for the Assassin's Creed franchise, since it is precisely that sort of charged context, full to bursting with intrigue and underhand activities that would lend itself best to a James Bond-like game. Having the protagonist sharply dressed, blending into the back-alleys and corridors of either Washington or Moscow - depending on which side would represent the richest narrative opportunities - armed with only a pistol, his assassin's blades and the odd lethal injection would be a great prospect. And the chance to take on either the finest that the White House or the Kremlin could offer in a set-piece conclusion would be the kind of celebratory sequence that this size franchise demands.
