5. Generous Weapon Loadout

Arguably just as ludicrous as this is the extremely generous weapons loadout that the game gives you; it is quite conceivable in this game that not long after taking the controls, you will be kitted out with around half a dozen machine guns and a couple of shotguns for good measure. How, exactly, are we supposed to be terrified of an invading alien force when we have so much firepower? This is precisely why the 2-weapon system is so popular in modern shooters, because it prevents players from becoming too over-powered, but is also of course realistic. Though we're not looking to this sort of game for overt realism, I don't want to be playing Aliens: Duke Nukem or Aliens: Serious Sam; I want to be constrained and challenged, otherwise I can't feel the tension of this supposedly harrowing scenario.
