4. Your Own Motion Tracker
The Wii U; opinions vary on whether this console will sink or swim with its goal to draw back core gamers. When I played with it, my initially negative opinion became mute and the potential future of third party developers exploring this avenue is very exciting. The gamepad introduces a variety of gameplay options which offers further immersion into Aliens: Colonial Marines: Randy Pitchford had announced that one of the features their game will introduce with the gamepad is its use as a genuine motion tracker. The gamepad emits the noise the tracker does when picking up movement, and you can even move the controller to scan a different area that you're not facing in-game. This offers the possibility to add a whole other layer of immersion that other gaming platforms would lack. Being involved with Aliens it could add more tension, as you'll be forced to look down at the gamepad to see where the blips are appearing - leaving you exposed. I can't imagine Gearbox making this feature compulsary - though fans of horror will appreciate the sensation of having a motion tracker in their hands - but it will be a great feature nonetheless.
