Assassin's Creed 3: 10 Reasons You Should Still Be Playing

7. The Frontier

Assassins Creed 3 We haven't had many experiences in the AC series that didn€™t have to deal with beautifully re-created large cities, and very rarely were the Assassins out in the €œwild.€ Sure there was that maze of mountain passes in the first, and the grassy pastures that surrounded Tuscany, the dreary swamps of Forli, and another similar mountain pass in the second, but this game was the first to give us a fleshed out, very much alive, and often dangerous wilderness. There was tree climbing, like mentioned above, frontiersmen to aid, a headless horseman to track down, and of course, feather collecting, not to mention the hunting. The parallel with Rockstar's incredible Red Dead Redemption is impossible to resist, and while the two games are somewhat on par with the hunting, I have to give the edge to AC3, thanks to its bow and arrow. You also have bait and snares at your disposal and of course the vast environment you can attempt to blend in with while trying to sneak up on your prey. The frontier is also just beautiful: leaves flutter around you as the sun shines through the branches creating gorgeous shadows, and at any moment you could go from climbing through trees, to diving off a log into a pile of brush, to then swan-diving off a cliff into a lake. It€™s a lovely little playground that will keep you distracted for hours.
