Assassin's Creed 3 Info You're Dying For
Assassin's Creed 3 isn't just going to take us through history, it's truly going to let us experience it this time.
Recently there was a post on NeoGaf which has shed light on an enormous amount of info for the latest installment in the Assassin's Creed series. With information pulled straight from the newest issue of Gameinformer, prepare yourself for a journey to the American frontier. Assassin's Creed 3 thrusts you into the role of the franchise's newest hero Ratohnhake:ton (pronounced Ra-doon-ha-gay-doo), or simply Connor. With an English father and a Native American mother, players will be taken through his childhood across American frontier as he is raised by Indians. Since the game takes place between 1753 to 1783 it should come as no surprise that the tribe of Mohawk Indians eventually clash with white colonists, and in turn have their village burned to the ground. How could it possibly be Assassin's Creed without the main character devoting his life to vengeance and no surprise here, Connor dedicates his life to confront tyranny and injustice. Throughout the course of the game yes, you will meet one of the main characters George Washington, as well as Ben Franklin, who isn't as much of a convenience as Da Vinci was in previous installments. Taking through two major cities of the time New York and Boston, there will be plenty of city action, where apparently they feel much more populated and alive. The biggest advancement from the previous titles is that Connor will now have a majority of action take place in all sorts of wilderness that they're naming the Frontier. The Frontier is 1.5 times bigger than the entire map of Brotherhood, comprising a third of the entire game's missions. In the Frontier you can hunt for animals to gain resources and depending on your kill tactics you will be rewarded differently. One example being if you one hit kill a bear you will gain a much more valuable pelt than multiple stab wounds. Traversing the new wilderness is a big factor in the gameplay, with a new approach that allows player to climb and leap from trees or mountain cliffs. All of this new traversal is used to set up for different kills or combat situations. Along with the open environment they've given some thought to the factor of the seasons, where we now find both the Frontier and cities existing in Summer and Winter. Soldiers will move slowly and fumble around in snow, aiding your stealth tactics. Lakes and rivers freeze over as you gain new types of terrain to use, giving Connor an extra advantage since trees are now an opportunity instead of a hindrance. One of the biggest updates has been given to the combat engine. The developers want you more in control than any previous title, emphasizing speed and momentum in combat. Connor is able to leap over wagons or slide under obstructions, as well as navigating around moving objects. With a new sprinting system you are able to kill people on the move, in order to continue chasing your prey. Connor will jump through windows to trees, then on top of church roofs, but have aimed to create more fluid responses for the player. Thousands of new and unique animations support the new combat system to create a fresh look for Connor. A new dynamic camera has even been created to help track the fast movements and action holding on to the cinematic presentation. One of the most exciting features to hear about is the newest version of the Anvil engine that will, "depict thousands of troops engaged in bloody battle". Imagine you've upgraded Connor's gear and costume, he enters with his trusty tomahawk and sword performs a double counter, then leaps from his enemies to score a multiple takedown, all while chaining multiple kills. The developer's are aiming for the most seamless, and responsive Assassin's Creed yet, and with Connor sporting their thousands of new animations, the combat is going to be amazing. Assassin's Creed 3 isn't just going to take us through history, it's truly going to let us experience it this time. Look out for the newest issue of Gameinformer soon with full details on the title. "You will see the great fire of New York. You will visit Valley Forge as a location that is currently occupied by Washington's forces. You will visit these places in the moment that they were important, and hopefully, experience the reason why we know where they are today. That's the goal."
