Assassin’s Creed 4: 10 Major Problems It Has To Fix

7. Axe The Leading Camera

Leading The naval missions we got last year were a great introduction to seafaring ways with a lot of variety for a side mission. From the preview videos it looks like everything€™s been kicked up a notch; ships are fast, inter-ship gun play has more complexities and, hopefully, one of the most annoying (although I have to say trivial) examples of a computer controlled camera in gaming has been removed. There€™s nothing worse than to be sailing the Aquila full throttle in a wide turn, only for the camera to force you to look to the side at a group of pirates you€™d have noticed anyway. From making you smash into friendlies to adding unnecessary pressure to timed missions, these are simple moments that riled me up every single time. It sounds so petty, but when you€™re on your tenth naval mission, only to have to be shown something that could easily be made out on the mini map feels a little patronising. I understand that there was a lot riding on how fans took these missions, given how essential they are in getting us ready for extended sailing in the prequel, so am happy to ignore this one as a legitimate criticism of Assassin€™s Creed III in general, but will be rather annoyed if it survives through to Black Flag.
