Assassin's Creed 4: 10 Things It Needs

7. Keep It Simple

It's been a wild ride seeing Assassin's Creed grow from an extremely disappointing, even dull first entry to something that's a lot more involved and versatile in the most recent entry. That said, it does often feel like Ubisoft have gotten a little carried away with themselves, and have lost sight a little of the core tenets of the series; do I need all these mini-games and puzzles padding things out? Not really. What I want is for AC4 to focus on the art of the kill, but to do so without being repetitive; give me a good reason to explore these gorgeous locales, and make sure that the kills are varied in the way that they use the environments. I don't need all these bells and whistles - I don't need property purchasing and the ability to join a guild; all I need is a kick-ass weapon and exciting missions that let me kill people in varied and stealthy, badass ways.
