Assassin's Creed: Odyssey - 9 Future Settings Ubisoft Must Use

7. Viking Invasion Of England

As Ubisoft have a penchant for historical warriors as we've seen, they couldn’t go far wrong with the Vikings. These famously fierce Scandinavians visited much of the world, from invading England to supposedly discovering Greenland - there's no end of historical events that Ubisoft could draw from.

There are also lots of blank spaces in the public perception of the people. They didn't wear horned helmets as everyone thinks, and there was a lot more culture than you'd expect for a group people assume were total barbarians. Assassin's Creed is nothing if not a historical series, and a Viking-set game could explore these real people.

Another Ubisoft game, For Honor, already used Vikings, so they've proven to be popular enough for a game. They also were sea-faring folk, so the popular sailing mechanics from Assassin's Creed: Black Flag could make a comeback.

On the other hand, there wouldn't be much potential for free-running and climbing when towns were just a collection of straw huts. It'd be hard to get gamers' adrenaline running when the highest point to jump from is off a horse.

I'm based in the UK, looking to make a career out of writing about entertainment and culture. The only thing I like as much as watching films, playing games or listening to music is enjoying as much hummus and crisps as I can while I do so. My favourite film is Eddie the Eagle and I like any game that lets me wander around beautiful worlds (or eat hummus and crisps).
