Feudal Japan has long been rumoured as a possible setting for an Assassin's Creed game in the future. If gamers wanted to see how that would look, then they could simply look back to the Tenchu series which ended with its single Xbox 360 entry. That was a terribly subpar game and the old Playstation 1 games were far superior. But despite this, the one thing we can say with absolute certainty is that Assassin's Creed V will not be set in Feudal Japan Ubisoft have said as much. This was said publicly by Ubisoft executive Jade Raymond, who also said about the new setting that it was in her favourite historical era. There were several settings mentioned for periods to be investigated during the course of the modern day levels of AC4 but the lead writer of the game said that they were all deliberate red herrings. The official Ubisoft Tumblr account made brief mention of a setting being during the industrial revolution a post that was quickly deleted which is suspicious indeed. But one other official release has to be taken into account you see, the Assassin's Creed: Initiates official Twitter account published two sets of co-ordinates. The first was near the border of Alberta and Saskatchewan in Canada, and the other was near Moscow, Russia. If the Russian location is correct, then perhaps the Assassin's Creed comic books set in Russia during the late 19th and 20th centuries might have something to do with this. Much like AC3 was set later in the timeline to AC4 with the same family, perhaps the same might be true for the comic book and AC5. Certainly if the Russia setting is true, then maybe we could expect to see at least Moscow and St. Petersburg appear but given that there are usually several locations in each game recently, will we see a Russian version of the Frontier seen in AC3?
