Assassin's Creed Valhalla: 10 HUGE Questions Ubisoft Must Answer

6. What Role Does The Staff Still Have To Play?

In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, we were introduced to another Piece Of Eden:

The Staff of Hermes, Trismegistus.

An ornate staff forged by the Greek god of its namesake, this powerful object protects whoever wield it, essentially making them immortal. It later found its way to Pythagoras, who gave it to Kassandra, who then passed it to Layla 2000 years later.

Like all Pieces of Eden, the staff proved to be an important part of the series' lore. In Odyssey, we discovered that it was home to the consciousness of Aletheia, another Isu.

However, after tragedy struck at the climax of The Fate Of Atlantis DLC, the staff was sealed away, taking a backseat for most of Valhalla. It was only brought into the fray when Layla needed its protective power to reach Yggdrasil. And here’s where things got interesting.

When Basim gains possession of the staff, he addresses Aletheia as “my love” and explains that they are the only ones left. Given that Basim is the reincarnation of Loki (who we know was Isu), this development suggests that Aletheia is Angerboda, Loki’s Jotnar love and mother of Fenrir.

What could this romantic reunion mean for the future of the series?
