Avengers: 8 Ways To Save The Game

8. Add Visible Loot

NOBODY wants an invisible loot system. Nobody.

As it stands, the entire wing of the game dedicated to number-grinds and gear doesn't result in any visible reward. The reason? Crystal Dynamics want to focus on skins and DLC, and a loot system would apparently break that.

Tons of loot-based games give you a choice of aesthetics while carrying across the number gain, but that isn't the case here. The solution, sadly, has been to include a stat-crunchy gear system, only everything is invisible on your character.

Needless to say it's supremely lame to grind out missions or challenges, only to never have anything to show for it.

Like Battlefront 2 first stating a loot system wouldn't work - and then implementing one after fans revolted against monetised elements - you simply can't have a system of drop-based rewards if they only reflect in numerics.

People simply won't play a game of this overall structure - especially when one of the hooks is customisation per player-and-hero combo - if the only thing at the end of the treadmill is another skin.
