Quickly you'll realise that the story, its characters and the production value on display are the most recommendable qualities about Marvel's Avengers. Anchored by Sandra Saad's energetic performance as Kamala Kahn - the current Ms. Marvel - we have a youthful newcomer trying to reform the Avengers after a devastating attack on San Francisco saw them outlawed.

After Captain America is "killed" and thousands of citizens are doused in "Terrigen Mist" - a substance emanating from a failed Tony Stark experiment - many find out they have unwanted superpowers, and Kamala in particular starts getting her Mr. Fantastic on.

In-game this means you can attack foes with ginormous oversized limbs; her leaping heavy attack being the biggest boot you've ever seen, and her ranged blow being a giant fist that launches across the battlefield.

Saad's performance is what makes the narrative click. Seeing Kahn join up with Troy Baker's Bruce Banner five years after the event, it works on a meta level for fans as she excitedly explores various left behind trinkets and reference points for The Avengers overall.

A plot revelation a few missions in gives Kamala pause to her own history as a "freak" (her words) because of the "A-Day" event, and all-round she's the best thing here.
