2. Brilliant Character Models And Flawless Animation

As with many big budget titles that end up feeling as though corporate design philosophies were crowbarred into gameplay and structure, at least the art and animation departments knock it out the park.

Such was the case with the disastrous Assassin's Creed: Unity, and even Anthem for the most part.

Here, Marvel's Avengers looks and moves flawlessly. Crystal Dynamics are clearly proud of their character models, and routinely show them off in slow motion as the game loads in. Animation-wise, every move you can deploy in combat feels meticulously quality tested until every frame was just right. The actual act of chaining things together gets repetitive and stale, but the canned animations themselves are stellar.

Crystal Dynamics have honed in on a very specific way to make a loot-based brawler, and although that means handfuls of repeating attack animations per character, at least they're flawlessly put together.
