Avengers LEAK: Every Playable Character That Will Be Included

Long before Carol Danvers suited up as Captain Marvel, there was Walter Lawson, aka Mar-Vell, aka Captain Marvel.

In the comics, Mar-Vell was the first iteration of the Captain Marvel character, and like Carol, had superhuman strength, flight capabilities and so forth. He also had a few unique abilities including a wrist-mounted device capable of emitting darkness and controlling magnetism, the ability to teleport and he was able to travel at faster-than-light speeds.

The character was killed off in 1982, and since that time, Carol Danvers has been primarily shown donning the Captain Marvel outfit.

It's interesting, again, that the developers plan on including this iteration in Marvel's Avengers. Like Kate Bishop, they need to make him distinctly different from the Carol Danvers version of Captain Marvel; it's entirely possible that this could be another character swap situation where they share abilities but only the aesthetics change. Here's hoping that's not the case, as we'd really like to see how the developers could mix things up and make two distinct versions of Captain Marvel for the game.
