BATMAN ARKHAM CITY Sequel: What’s The Next Step?

Heart Of Hush

Whilst making their way through the game, players no doubt came across a murder victim who had the misfortune of not only being killed, but their face had also been sliced off too. In addition to this, the murderer seemed to be Bruce Wayne, as there was fingerprint evidence implementing him at the scene of the crime. The person responsible turned out to be a man named Thomas Elliot, former friend of Bruce Wayne and better known by his alias of Hush. Hush is a relatively new addition to the Batman Rouges Gallery, created by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee in 2003. In Gotham, there were three families of vast wealth: the Waynes, the Cobblepots and the Elliots. We know what became of the Wayne€™s child, and the Cobblepot€™s, but the Elliot€™s child€™s fate was unknown for a long time. The Elliots resided in a mansion nearby Wayne Manor and as a result the two families became friends. Thomas resented his parents for not showing him any love and often being seemingly cruel to him, and tried to kill them by cutting the breaks of their car, with the intention of inheriting their wealth and living whatever lifestyle he wanted. The resulting crashed killed his father, but his mother survived with the help of Thomas Wayne, something he always resented Bruce for. Training as a surgeon, Elliot grew to resent Bruce for having the kind of life he wanted (seemingly anyway), and has repeatedly gone out of his way to try and destroy him. Further investigation of the murders in Arkham City reveals that Hush had been grafting the faces of his victims in order to reconstruct his own face into resembling that of Bruce Wayne, with the intention of masquerading as him. Though in the comic books he is aware of his dual identity of Batman, the Arkham counterpart is seemingly unaware of this fact, as Batman is the one to discover that Hush was behind the murders and Hush simply vows to destroy Bruce Wayne€™s reputation. So what is his intention? In the comic books, Hush posed as Wayne for close to a year, frittering away large sums of his money and acting irrational in public, drawing suspicion. Is that Hush€™s intentions in Arkham, or is there something more devious and sinister planned? Will he continue to commit murders and pin them on Bruce, as he did in Arkham City? Will he try to take over and them liquidise Wayne Enterprises? Or will he discover his sworn enemies€™ almighty secret and use it to his own ends? Perhaps it will be a combination of all three, with Hush attempting to break down and destroy any and every aspect of Bruce and Batman€™s lives and then going on to make Gotham City believe that their most eligible bachelor is a ruthless and sadistic murderer. As a big fan of this character, I am very much looking forward to seeing Hush in Arkham 3. Click "next" below to read part 5...
