Okay, try this one on for size. So the script leak mentioned earlier also gave way to a pretty unique and supremely cool take on the idea of what - or who - could take down the Batman. The answer? Another Batman. It goes that following the events of City, Talia al Ghul's body was recovered and used in a gene splicing experiment with DNA from Robin and Bruce himself alongside the Titan virus to ensure healthy growth, all headed up by US agent Amanda Waller. The reason? To create a militarised clone that would oversee and head up the sensibilities and direction of what Arkham should represent, locking down Gotham and restoring order in the process. The Arkham Knight is bound to Bruce in a half blood-related sort of way, which apparently leads to a heated rivalry that forms the core of the narrative; an old vs. new, experience vs. age sort of tale. It's fairly new ground for a Batman arc to cover, as aside from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns there haven't been a great many tales that go anywhere near the idea of Bruce ageing out of his destined role as a byproduct of the main plot. This all falls in line with Rocksteady's insistence that the Knight was an original creation, and opens up the floodgates of acceptance from Bat-fans old and new. Do you like the idea that the only thing that can take down Batman is Batman, or is that too cheap and easy? Are there any others we've missed? Let us know in the comments!
