After the events of the Knightfall story that saw Bruce Wayne’s back broken by Bane and then Azrael’s disastrous turn as Batman before Bruce returned, Bruce decided to take some time off and re-evaluate what he was doing, giving Dick Grayson a chance to wear the cape and cowl for a time.

When Bruce returned for good during the Troika story-arc, he began wearing an all-black Batsuit made of kevlar and a little similar in appearance to the one worn in the Burton Batman films. This became the default Batsuit for a number of years, lasting until the No Man’s Land story.

Although it’s a pretty simple suit, it’s still one that looks good. It was a long-overdo modernization of Batman’s look, which had remained relatively unchanged for twenty or more years by that point. And of all the skins on the list, this would be the simplest for Rocksteady to make.
