Batman: Arkham Knight - 7 Past Franchise Mistakes It Needs To Avoid

2. Catwoman

Before everyone starts jumping on me, note that playing as Catwoman was enjoyable; her different style of fighting was interesting to adapt to and RockSteady got her navigation programming down, more or less. The main problem was how her sections were implemented. They were meant to stall during cliffhanger moments in Batman's story, but the end result just came off as jarringly unconnected to the main storyline. We knew Catwoman was supposed to be doing her own thing, but if you think of it like playing Arkham Asylum, it would be something closer to every few hours of story there being a section where you take control of Commissioner Gordon and solve mysteries for half an hour. Catwoman's tale should've had a structure that paralleled Batman's in some way, not be completely random with a last-minute scenario to tie it all together for the sake of DLC-justification. If RockSteady does decide to include more playable characters in the Arkham Knight story, such as different members of the Bat Family (Nightwing, Robin), their actions should be tied back to the narrative in some way so that it doesn't feel like they're isolated.

Red Stewart is big fan of the entertainment industry, with insights into film, television, and video games for starters. Despite growing up in the 21st century's era of modernization, he prefers many retro era ideas over the current trends found in many of today's media. Personally he's an introvert who loves reading as much as gaming.
