Rocksteady have said that there will be no complexities added to the combat system implemented within the Batman franchise thus far. A focus on simplicity is the perspective they are taking and while there will be minor additions to help combo-building, keeping the combat system manageable to both new and experienced players is what should be the priority. Adding to the range of attacks within Batman's arsenal, he can now eliminate up to three enemies at once using a new fear takedown system, a new addition to the Batman franchise. There is also a focus on generating greater combos by implementing both environmental attacks as well as eliminating enemies on the floor by using a ground takedown. These new abilities should allow more variety with combo-building as well as challenge the player into finding the best solution to taking down foes. Also, to accommodate the pure focus on the single player campaign, there will be no multiplayer. While it would be a nice addition, many fans feel the single player campaign is where the real time and dedication should be spent, as there will be no compromise on time and effort designing a multiplayer feature. While the lack of multiplayer may be a shame to some following Arkham Origins, it's admirable that Rocksteady are determined to focus solely on single player.
