One of Batman's longest-running foes in the Arkham series is Jervis Tetch, a man so obsessed with Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland that he has rebranded himself as the character of The Mad Hatter from the story.

In each game he appears in, his schemes involve nuanced methods of hypnotism, transporting Batman and others to fantastical, storybook-like landscapes. Tetch speaks in nonsensical rhymes in-keeping with Carroll's writing, and he repeatedly looks for Batman to join him on his mad journeys as his 'Alice'.

Regrettably, Mad Hatter's roles in the games are often pretty short-lived. Although the surreal hypnotic environments are a joy to behold, the player doesn't have a lot of time to enjoy them, as Batman is very quick to dispel the illusions and apprehend their creator.

Even so, there's no denying that Tetch has made quite the name for himself in the Arkhamverse. Every time he gets beaten down, he just keeps getting back up again. Maybe someone ought to send this weirdo down the rabbit-hole for good.
